Her race unfolded in two distinct halves: an opening mile of 10:38 gave way to a sharp surge, before the closing mile settled back to 11:15 as the effort caught up with her. That middle mile was the highlight of the race, covered in 8:52 nearly two minutes faster than her opening pace and the quickest mile of her day. Finishing at altitude in Boulder, over 5,000 feet above sea level, that stretch stands out as the clear strength of her run. Closing again nearer her early rhythm suggests an opportunity to work on carrying that second-mile pace deeper into the final stretch next time out.
