Strong Second Mile Anchors a Steady 5K Finish Becci Benner completed the 5K in 31:25, an overall pace of 10:08 per mile. Her race built through a quick opening mile of 9:48, then surged to a season-best-paced mile of 8:54, her fastest mile of the day. The closing mile eased to 11:32 as the effort of the first two miles settled in, rounding out a race run at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet. With her fastest mile coming right in the middle of the course, there may be room to experiment with holding that pace a bit longer before the final stretch.
