Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Steven Hulse #41183 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Powers Top-5% 5K Finish Steven Hulse crossed the line in 22:22, good for 127th overall and 97th among men in a field of 2,677 at the 2026 Boulderthon 5K. Hulse opened with a 7:10 first mile, then surged to a 6:09 second mile his fastest of the race before easing to an 8:12 close. That middle-mile push accounted for the bulk of his overall pace, which settled at 7:12 min/mile by the finish. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Hulse's ability to hold pace after that surge speaks well of his conditioning; a touch more control on the final mile could help him carry that middle-mile speed all the way to the line next time.
