Strong Negative Split Powers Sub-7:30 5K Jack Harrington finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 23:11, an average pace of 7:28 per mile. Harrington opened with an 8:08 first mile before surging to a 6:32 second mile, his fastest of the race, then settled into a 7:49 close to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall. That middle mile marked the high point of his effort, pulling his cumulative pace down sharply before the final stretch leveled it back out. Racing at altitude in Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, that kind of mid-race acceleration is worth noting. A more even split between miles one and three could help him carry that middle-mile speed further into the finish next time.
