Steady Effort Closes Out a Pearl Street Finish Karina Makker completed the 5K in 1:02:53, crossing the line on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder. Her opening mile was her strongest stretch, covered in 17:08, before her pace eased through the second and third miles, settling into a final overall pace of 20:17 per mile. Racing at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, Karina paced herself through the field of 2,677 runners, holding her early speed longest during that first mile. Building on that quick start with a bit more consistency in the middle miles could help her carry that early rhythm closer to the finish next time.
