Strong Middle Mile Powers Steady 5K Finish Bianca Cueva completed the 5K in 28:40, an average pace of 9:15 per mile. Her race built through a strong middle mile before settling into a closing stretch that matched her overall pace. Cueva opened in 9:51, then surged to 8:10 for mile two, the fastest mile of her race, before closing in 9:41. That middle-mile push, at over 5,000 feet of elevation in Boulder, made the difference in an otherwise even effort. Her finish on the Pearl Street Mall capped a race with a clear high point in the second mile, a segment worth building from as she looks ahead to future starts.
