Carter Slashes Nearly 20 Minutes Off Last Year's 5K Carter Amaya finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 27:53, a dramatic improvement over his 47:26 finish in the same race last year. That cut his overall time by nearly 20 minutes and moved him up hundreds of spots in the field. Carter opened strong, covering the first mile in 8:06 and holding nearly identical pace through mile two, reaching the two-mile mark in 16:16. The final mile slowed to a 10:36 split, pulling his overall pace to 8:59 per mile by the finish. With the early pace as a foundation, tightening that closing stretch could be a natural next target for future races on this downtown Boulder course.
