Steady Pace Powers a Solid 10K Finish Mark Gonzales completed the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 54:03, an overall pace of 8:43 per mile through the field of 3,071 in downtown Boulder. Gonzales opened strong, covering the first mile in 8:10, and held his cumulative pace between 8:20 and 8:34 through the middle miles. His fastest mile-plus stretch came early: the opening two miles combined for a 8:20 pace, the quickest sustained running of his race. The closing miles eased slightly, with mile four ticking up to a 9:03 split before he settled back in. Racing at over 5,000 feet of elevation, Gonzales showed consistency across the distance a pattern worth building on for future starts.
