Strong Middle Mile Powers a Solid 5K Finish Patric Brunner completed the 5K in 25:40, an overall pace of 8:16 per mile. His race built in the middle: an opening mile of 8:59 gave way to a sharp 6:51 second mile, the fastest stretch of his day, before easing to 8:50 over the closing mile. That surge shows real capability at a quicker gear once he settles in. Racing at Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet adds context to the effort, particularly given how much ground he made up during that second-mile push. With the early and late miles both landing near 9:00, there's an opportunity to work on carrying that middle-mile intensity across more of the course next time out.
