Strong Start Fuels a Steady Half-Marathon Finish Kenneth Saunders completed the 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon in 1:44:41, averaging 7:59 per mile. Saunders built an early cushion through the first six miles, clicking off splits between 7:33 and 7:52 and reaching the 10K mark in roughly 46 minutes. Miles 7 through 11 slowed into the 8:00s, with an 8:51 split at mile 8 and an 8:46 split at mile 11 marking the softest stretch of the race. He rebounded over the final two miles, dropping a 7:32 split at mile 12 before closing in 8:01 for mile 13 to finish just off his early pace. That first-six-mile stretch stood out as his fastest sustained running of the race, and it set the tone for a well-paced overall performance through downtown Boulder's Pearl Street Mall finish.
