Steady Through Nine, Strong Finish Maurice Liddy covered the Boulder half marathon in 1:41:00, an average pace of 7:42 per mile. He built a firm foundation through the first nine miles, holding between 7:28 and 7:36 per mile despite Boulder's altitude above 5,000 feet. A dip arrived at mile 11, where his pace slowed to 9:22, but he answered immediately with his fastest mile of the day, a 7:00 split for mile 12, before closing in 7:23 for mile 13. The lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5 fell just before his one rough patch of the race, yet Liddy recovered well enough to finish the back half strong. His overall placement, 397th of the field of 7,223, reflects a race that stayed largely on pace with one clear opportunity: smoothing that late-race dip could sharpen an already solid performance next time out.
