Fast Middle Mile Fuels Top-10% 5K Finish Logan Freed crossed the line in 24:31, good for 218th overall and 163rd among men in a field of 2,677 at the 2026 Boulderthon 5K a result that lands him in the top 10 percent of the field. Freed opened with an 8:27 first mile before surging to a 6:32 second mile, his fastest of the race, then settled into an 8:42 close as the effort caught up with him. That middle-mile burst pulled his overall pace down to 7:29 before the final stretch nudged it back to 7:54 at the finish. Racing at altitude in Boulder, which sits above 5,000 feet, that kind of mid-race acceleration stands out. A more even split between miles two and three could help him sustain that faster gear all the way to the Pearl Street Mall finish.
