Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Cherilyn Sackal #40493 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Front Half Powers Runner to Second in Age Group Cherilyn Sackal finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 25:34, placing 2nd in the women's 50-54 division. She crossed the line 263rd overall out of a field of 2,677, and 61st among women. Sackal opened quickly, covering the first mile in 7:50 before pushing even harder to a 7:25 second mile, her fastest of the race. The final mile eased to 9:18, a reasonable adjustment after such a strong start. Given the pace she banked early, there may be room to distribute effort more evenly across the full distance in future 5Ks. Boulder's altitude, over 5,000 feet, adds context to the effort behind that opening pace.
