Fast Start Fades Late in Boulder 5K Chasen Epinger completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 27:30. He opened with a 7:59 first mile, then surged to a 7:13 second mile his fastest of the race before easing to an 11:16 closing mile to the finish. Racing at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, Epinger's early pace showed strong control, and that second-mile split stands out as the highlight of his day. With the front two miles banked well under 8:00 pace, there's an opportunity to work on carrying that rhythm through the final stretch in future races.
