Strong Middle Mile Powers 5K Finish Monica Garcia completed the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 33:47, a distance different from her 2024 Boulderthon Half Marathon, where she finished in 2:44:35, making a direct comparison difficult given the change in race format. Garcia's race showed a strong second mile, dropping to a 9:25 pace after an opening mile of 10:23, before easing to 12:48 for the closing stretch. That middle mile stood out as her fastest full-mile stretch of the day. Finishing at altitude in Boulder, sitting above 5,000 feet, Garcia can take confidence in her pacing strategy particularly that quick second mile as a strength to build on for future races.
