Strong Middle Mile Anchors Steady 5K Finish Sara Fryzlewicz, 24, of Boulder, finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 30:19, an overall pace of 9:46 per mile. Her race moved in three distinct phases: an opening mile of 9:49, a strong second mile at 8:20, and a final mile that eased back to 11:17. That middle mile stood out as her fastest stretch of the day, showing a solid surge once she settled in. Given the finish sits in downtown Boulder on the Pearl Street Mall, closing out at elevation over 5,000 feet adds context to the late slowdown. A slightly more even pacing between the second and third miles could help her sustain that middle-mile strength through the finish next time.
