Strong Start, Tempered Finish Erin Miyazaki completed the 5K in 31:35. Her opening mile was her steadiest, clocked at 9:48, before she picked up the pace to 9:01 through mile twoher fastest mile of the race. The final mile slowed to 11:47, giving the race a strong-to-fading shape across the three-mile distance. Running at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet adds a layer of difficulty to any pacing strategy. Given that context, Erin's ability to hold a sub-10-minute pace through two-thirds of the course reflects solid early execution. A touch more even pacing in the final mile could help her carry that mile-two speed all the way to the line next time.
