Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Martha Buttner #40663 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 5K Distance: 3.1 miles

Strong Middle Mile Powers Age-Group Runner-Up Finish Martha Buttner finished the 2026 Boulderthon 5K in 32:35, placing second in the women's 70-74 division. Her race built through a strong middle stretch before settling in for the final mile. After an opening mile of 10:57, Buttner surged to a 9:35 second mile her fastest of the race before easing to 10:58 over the closing stretch to the Pearl Street Mall. That middle-mile push was the clear highlight of her day, and with a touch more evenness across the first and third miles, there's room to carry that pace further next time. Finishing in downtown Boulder, at over 5,000 feet of elevation, adds context to the effort behind that time.
