Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Benjamin Griesel #24736 Race: 2026 Boulderthon Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles

Steady Build Turns Into a Fast Closing Kick Benjamin Griesel finished the half marathon in 1:31:18, placing 152nd overall and 128th among men in a field of 7,223, an age-group result of 19th in the M 20-24 division. His pace held in the low-7:00s through the first eight miles before dropping sharply, with miles 9 through 13 covering four miles at roughly 6:25 per mile the fastest sustained stretch of his race and the section that pulled him from mid-pack into the top tier of finishers by the final mile. That closing surge came at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, adding weight to the final miles' quickening pace. With the pattern shown here a patient opening followed by a strong drive to the Pearl Street Mall finish there may be room to test a slightly faster middle third next time out.
