A Strong Mid-Race Surge Fades Late Lucas Burns finished the 2026 Boulderthon Marathon in 4:35:31, his slowest of his three Boulderthon marathon finishes, trailing his 4:07:36 in 2025 and 4:22:56 in 2024. He settled into a steady 9:409:50 per-mile pace through the first ten miles, then tightened further from miles 10 through 13 with splits of 9:17, 9:18, 9:11, and 9:23 his fastest sustained stretch of the race. That rhythm held close through mile 20 before the closing miles slowed considerably, with splits climbing into the 12- and 13-minute range as he came through the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 22.5, running at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet in the process.
