Strong Middle Miles Power a Top-3% Finish Pedro Rivera finished the 10K in 44:17, placing 64th overall out of the field of 3,071 and 48th among men. That result put him inside the top 10% of the entire field, a strong showing at any distance. Rivera's race built steadily: after a 7:24 opening mile, he found his rhythm with a 6:44 second mile and held pace in the low 7:00s through the middle miles. His fastest mile came at mile five, a 6:41 split that pushed his cumulative pace to its quickest point of the day before easing slightly over the final mile to the finish on the Pearl Street Mall. Given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, that sustained pace through the race's midsection stands out as the highlight of his effort.
