Local Runner Claims Age-Group Win at 10K Chad Ricklefs, 59, of Boulder, finished the 10K in 40:29, placing 27th overall and 20th among men in a field of 3,071 good for first in the M55-59 division. His opening mile was his fastest, a 5:58 that put him among the race's early leaders before his pace settled through the middle miles, drifting to 6:44 by mile four. He rallied over mile five, matching his early rhythm at 6:19, before the finishing stretch pulled his overall pace to 6:31 per mile. Racing at altitude in a city sitting above 5,000 feet, Ricklefs closed with a run down the Pearl Street Mall, the finish line shared by every distance in the event. A touch more evenness between miles three and four could sharpen the overall pace next time out, though the strong start and gritty finish made for a well-run 10K.
