Steady Miles Give Way to a Late Surge Julia Werner crossed the line in 1:40:08, finishing 363rd overall and 74th among women in a field of 7,223 at 2026 Boulderthons half marathon. That result places her performance well within the races top tier. Her opening six miles were remarkably even, holding between 7:26 and 7:30 per mile, a strong rhythm through downtown Boulders elevation near 5,000 feet. Miles 7 through 11 saw a natural cooling as pace eased toward 8:20 by mile 11, coinciding with the stretch approaching the lululemon Power-Up Zone at mile 9.5. She then closed strong, dropping back to 7:29 and 7:37 over the final two miles to finish on the Pearl Street Mall. That last surge stood out as her sharpest sustained running of the day, a good sign of finishing strength worth building on.
