Strong Pace Holds Firm Through the Half Marathon Mackenzie Caldwell finished the half marathon in 1:20:46, placing 43rd overall and 7th among women in a field of 7,223 runners. Caldwell opened fast, covering the first mile in 5:54 and settling into a steady rhythm through the middle miles, holding between 6:03 and 6:11 per mile from mile two through mile ten. She closed with one of her strongest stretches of the race, covering miles twelve and thirteen at an average of 6:02 per mile faster than her overall pace to bring the race home. That consistency was especially notable given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet.
