Lage opened briskly, covering the first two miles in 8:32 and 8:28 his strongest stretch of the race before easing to a 9:219:32 pace through miles three and four. He found a second wind in mile five, dropping back to 8:52, before closing out the final mile at 10:38. Running at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet, Lage's early pace set a solid foundation that carried him through a race with some natural ebb and flow in tempo. A slightly more even effort in the middle miles could help smooth out the overall pacing in future outings, though the strong opening two miles stand out as a clear highlight.
