Mormul's race stayed close to an even keel through the middle miles, holding between 8:42 and 8:49 pace from mile two through four. His strongest stretch came between miles four and five, where he clocked 8:17, his fastest mile of the race, before easing back over the closing miles. Boulder's elevation, over 5,000 feet, adds context to any pace held across this course, and Mormul's ability to sustain his effort through the middle miles speaks well to his pacing discipline. A touch more finishing kick in the final mile could be a focus for next time.
