Strong Opening Miles Power a Top-Finish Half Marathon Elena Mchargue finished the half marathon in 1:38:47, placing 315th overall and 58th among women out of the field of 7,223. She built her race around a swift opening 10K, covering the first six miles in 43:21 (7:14 per mile average), then settled into a steadier rhythm of roughly 7:45-8:00 miles through the second half, closing in 1:37:47 with a final pace of 7:31 per mile. That opening 10K stood out as her fastest sustained stretch of the day, a pace she wasn't able to fully match later but never let slip far off target. The race finished on the Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, a fitting stage for a well-paced effort at altitude above 5,000 feet.
