Steady Miles Give Way to a Strong Pearl Street Close Jeremy Spiezio finished the marathon in 3:51:09, an 8:49 min/mile pace. He opened briskly with an 8:53 first mile, then locked into a steady band of 8:20s-8:30s splits through the first half and beyond, holding that rhythm out past mile 19. The effort caught up with him late, with miles 20 and 24 slipping to 11:19 and 10:38, before he rallied over the closing two miles, finishing in 9:13 and 8:51 to reach the Pearl Street Mall with a strong last push. His fastest mile came at mile 11, a 7:41 clip that stood as the high point of an otherwise even, disciplined effort. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, that long stretch of consistent pacing through the middle miles was the clear strength of his day.
