Steady Miles Build to a Strong Finish Paxton Hughes completed the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 58:37, finishing with an overall pace of 9:27 min/mile. His race showed a clear pattern of improvement over the first five miles, dropping steadily from a 10:02 opening mile to an 8:26 fifth mile his fastest stretch of the day. That fifth mile stood out as the strongest mile of the race, a noticeable gear shift after a more measured start. The final mile settled back to 9:43, closing out a race run at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet. Overall, this was a well-paced effort with a strong mid-race surge Hughes may find that starting the opening miles slightly closer to his mile-five effort could smooth out the pacing even further next time.
