Strong Finishing Miles Cap a Hard-Fought Half Brooks Flynn finished the Half Marathon in 2:35:26, holding a 403rd-place division finish among the M 20-24 field. His race built steadily: after a cautious opening two miles near 13-14 minutes each, he settled into a rhythm through the middle miles before closing with real strength. His final four miles miles 10 through 13 were his best sustained stretch, averaging just over 10:00 per mile, including a fastest mile of the day at 9:48 to finish. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet adds its own demand to any distance, and Flynn's late surge reflected well on his pacing management. Along the way, he passed the lululemon Power-Up Zone near mile 9.5, part of the course's stretch toward the historic finish on the Pearl Street Mall.
