Fast Start Carries Through a Steady Half Timothy Dusro finished the half marathon in 1:47:28, averaging 8:12 per mile. He opened quickly, covering the first three miles in 21:06 (7:02 per mile), then eased into a steadier rhythm through mile ten with splits between 7:07 and 7:44 per mile. A slower eleventh mile briefly broke his rhythm before he rallied over the final two miles, closing in 7:33 and 7:40. His strongest stretch of the day came early, that opening three miles at 7:02 per mile standing as his fastest sustained running of the race. The pace held well given Boulder's elevation above 5,000 feet, with the late rally showing he had more to give even after the middle miles slowed.
