Date: Sept. 27, 2026 Participant: Diana Newell #31105 Race: 2026 Boulderthon 10K Distance: 6.2 miles

Strong Opening Mile Anchors a Steady 10K Effort Diana Newell finished the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:14:13. She opened briskly, clicking off her first mile in 11:08, then eased through miles two and three as the pace settled into the 11:30s and briefly slipped to 12:23. Newell rallied over miles four and five, tightening back to 11:47 and 11:35, before the final mile stretched to 13:23 as she carried an 11:58 min/mile average across the finish. That opening mile stands as her fastest of the day, setting a tone she worked to sustain through the middle miles. She crossed the finish line on Pearl Street Mall in downtown Boulder, closing out a race run at more than 5,000 feet of elevation. A touch more evenness between that quick start and the closing miles could help her carry pace deeper into future 10Ks.
