Steady Pace Through Boulder's Altitude Yields Strong Middle Mile Carlos Perez completed the 2026 Boulderthon 10K in 1:39:06, an overall pace of 15:59 per mile. His race showed variation across the course a strong opening mile at 15:03, a tougher third mile at 17:15, then a rebound through miles four and five before finishing with a slightly slower final mile. Perez's best sustained stretch came in mile five, covered in 14:49, his fastest full mile of the race. That mile pulled his cumulative pace down after a mid-race dip, showing good recovery ability. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Perez's ability to rally in the later miles is a strength worth building on. A slightly more even effort through the middle miles could help him carry that mile-five strength across more of the course next time.
