Strong Start Fades Late in Final Mile David Kuritar finished the 5K in 23:53, an overall pace of 7:42 per mile. He split his first mile in 6:59 and his second in 7:04, holding a cumulative pace right around 7:01 through two miles before the final mile slowed to 8:56, pulling his overall pace back to 7:42. Racing at Boulder's altitude of over 5,000 feet, Kuritar's opening two miles were the strongest stretch of his race, both sitting near the 7:00 mark. With that pace established early, an even split through the final mile could be a useful target for his next 5K.
