Fast Start Fuels a Solid Half Marathon Finish Akio Tobin completed the Half Marathon in 1:51:43, an 8:31 min/mile pace, finishing among 7,223 in the field. Tobin's race showed a clear two-phase shape: the opening six miles clicked by near 7:51-7:59 per mile, the strongest stretch of the day, before the pace eased into the 8:20-9:56 range over the closing miles. That early efficiency, sustained above 5,000 feet of elevation in Boulder, set a strong foundation even as the back half slowed. A worthwhile focus going forward could be finding ways to hold more of that opening rhythm deeper into the second half, building on an already well-paced first 10K.
