Even Pacing Powers a Top-Tier Half Marathon Finish Michael Kettler crossed the line in 1:22:33, good for 53rd overall and 44th among men in a field of 7,223, while topping the M45-49 division. His mile splits stayed remarkably tight through the middle miles, hovering between 6:16 and 6:32, before he found another gear late. Mile 12 was his fastest full mile at 6:00, part of a strong closing stretch that dropped his cumulative pace under 6:18/mile by the finish. Running through Boulder's thin air above 5,000 feet, Kettler held a steady 6:18 min/mile average for the full 13.1 miles.
