Strong Front Half Fades Late but Holds Firm Overall Jack Wilzbacher finished the marathon in 3:43:27, placing 179th overall and 153rd among men out of the field of 3,305. Wilzbacher ran the first 19 miles with tight control, holding between 7:20 and 7:30 per mile and even dipping to 6:40 for mile 11 his fastest mile of the race. That opening stretch built a cumulative pace near 7:30 min/mile through the halfway point and beyond, a strong, steady effort sustained deep into the race. The final miles told a different story, with pace slipping into the 9- to 13-minute range from mile 20 onward as fatigue set in. Even with that late slowdown, the earlier pacing carried him to a solid overall result, run at Boulder's elevation of over 5,000 feet.
