Consistent Splits with a Standout Performance in Division Nick Stepan maintained an impressive and consistent pace throughout the 2026 Deseret News Marathon. Early splits saw him holding steady at around a 6:45 min/mile pace, with notable acceleration in miles four and ten, at split paces of 5:46 and 5:55 min/mile respectively. His performance in the first half of the marathon was particularly strong, where he twice reached as high as second place overall. As the race progressed, Nick faced a gradual slowdown, particularly evident after mile 18 where the pace dipped to around 8-minute miles. Nonetheless, Nick's resilience shone through, finishing with a time of 3:04:32, averaging 7:02 min/mile. Notably, he secured 2nd place in his M19-24 division. A consistent focus on maintaining later-race pacing could further enhance his already impressive division performance.
