Consistent Start, Tactical Finish Ricky Aponte from Alpine, UT, delivered a solid performance at the 2026 Deseret News Marathon's Half Marathon event. He maintained a consistently fast pace, demonstrating impressive pacing strategy. His first mile clocked in at 5:02 min/mile, setting an early strong lead. Throughout the first half of the race, he remained within the top 10 overall and top 3 in his division (M25-29). By halfway, his pace remained around 5:14-5:24 min/mile, which kept him competitive. In the latter part of the race, his pace slowed slightly, averaging around 6:01 min/mile by the end, while finishing with an overall time of 1:18:54. Ending 3rd in his division, Ricky's consistent pacing throughout proved resilient.
