Strong Division Finish with Consistent Pace In the 2026 Deseret News Marathon Half Marathon, Maddie Cannon excelled, finishing first in her division F25-29. Her overall time was 1:19:11, with an average pace of 6:02 min/mile across 13.1 miles. Notably, Maddie maintained a steady pace throughout the race, with splits generally close to her average pacing. Her fastest split was between miles 4-5, clocking in at 5:33 min/mile. Maddie began strongly, securing first place in her gender category at mile 2 before dropping slightly. Her most challenging pace came in the final stretch with a 6:56 min/mile split between miles 12-13. Despite this late decrease, she consistently held top positions and finished 9th among females and 24th overall out of 1,374 participants. There is an opportunity to maintain speed in the later splits by focusing on sustaining efforts beyond the 10-mile mark. Excellent work on claiming the division win!
