Consistent Progress with a Strong Finish Bates Girls participated in the 2026 Deseret News Marathon Relay, representing Lake Point, UT. The team maintained a consistent pace through the initial stages with a remarkable improvement in pace as the race progressed. Starting with a split pace of 13:17 min/mile for the first three miles, they picked up the pace significantly from mile 4 onwards. By mile 13, the pace improved to 11:20 min/mile, continuing to decrease to 10:29 min/mile by the end of the race. They completed the marathon in 4:34:48, achieving an overall pace of 10:29 min/mile and placing 7th in their division. Notably, they improved from an initial 20th place by mile 3 to finishing 17th overall. The strongest split was between miles 23 and 24 with a pace of 8:32 min/mile. Focusing on maintaining this impressive finish could further enhance future performances.
