Consistent Performance Amid Strong Competition Whittaker Bettis displayed a consistent running pace in the 2026 Deseret News Marathon 5K event. Starting with an impressive first-mile split of 4:51, he quickly established himself among the top runners. His pace slightly slowed but remained strong, with elapsed times of 5:09 for the second mile and 5:05 for the third mile. This consistency allowed him to secure an overall event time of 15:36, with an admirable pace of 5:02 per mile. Competing with 1,474 participants, Whittaker finished 6th overall and matched this placement in his gender category. Most notably, Whittaker achieved 3rd place in the highly competitive M15-18 division. Maintaining a strong, even pace throughout the race was key to his finishing position.
