Consistently Leading Division Scott Klingonsmith delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 Deseret News Marathon. Completing the half marathon in 1:08:22 with an overall pace of 5:13 min/mile, Scott was consistent in maintaining a leading position in his division, M19-24, from start to finish. Notably, he started with a swift 4:48 min/mile on the first mile, securing 4th place overall initially and capturing 1st in his division throughout. By the 11th mile, he showed remarkable strength by advancing to the first position overall. Though fluctuation in pacing was observed, with split times varying, his endurance and ability to stay among top contenders was evident. The eighth mile saw the largest slowdown with a 5:25 min/mile split. It would be beneficial to focus on maintaining a more constant pace to avoid larger fluctuations in future races, particularly in the later stages, to retain the top rankings more easily.
