Steady Improvement on a Majestic Ascent Michael Murphy showed notable progress at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent. His elapsed time was 4:10:16, improving by 32:19 from his previous attempt in 2024. The average pace also improved to 18:43 min/mile compared to 21:09 min/mile last year, highlighting a consistent effort over the challenging distance of 13.36 miles. Michael's overall place was 456 out of 2,049 participants, significantly better than his 706th position last year, marking a commendable advancement in his performance. Analyzing the splits, Michael maintained a strong start with a 9:35 min/mile pace by Ruxton, a significant improvement from the start. As anticipated, the pace decreased when crossing high-altitude points like 7.8 Summit at 9,461 feet with a 15:06 min/mile split pace. The last mile remained challenging with a pace of 24:35, but it was consistent with the elevated terrain. For next time, maintaining energy distribution in the final stretch could bring further enhancements.
