Consistent Effort Despite Altitude Challenges Christy Mock, 38, from Colorado Springs, finished the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 6:07:49, covering a distance of 13.36 miles with an overall pace of 27:31 min/mile. She placed 1496th out of 2049 participants, 536th among women, and 92nd in the F35-39 division. Starting strong in the first mile with a split pace of 11:15 min/mile, Christy maintained a steady performance until the halfway point. As expected with increasing altitude, Christy’s pace slowed in the final three miles, with the split time peaking at 41:00 min/mile approaching the summit. Her placement varied during the race, reaching as high as 819th overall near the challenging 1.5-mile mark remaining. Identifying strategic areas for pacing adjustment in high-altitude segments could further enhance performance in future races. Ending strong at 14,000 feet demonstrates determination and capability to undertake altitude demands effectively.
