Consistent Climb with Need for Slight Pacing Adjustment Jose Crespo tackled the demanding Pikes Peak Ascent with determination, completing the half marathon in 4:22:52. His performance saw him place 48th in the O45-49 division out of a total 2049 participants. With an overall pace of 19:40 min/mile, Crespo faced the steep terrain from 6303 to 14061 feet elevation. A noticeable slowdown occurred in the final miles above the tree line, where his split pace widened to 31:53 min/mile at the finish. Compared to his previous Pikes Peak race in 2024, where he clocked a time of 3:49:21, Crespo displayed slightly more challenging splits in 2025. Notably, his initial strong paces of 8:09 min/mile at Ruxton gradually evolved to over 24 min/mile in the higher altitudes. We recommend maintaining a more even pace throughout the race. By approaching each segment with consistent effort, Crespo can achieve more balanced results over such varied elevation changes.
