Strong Run through Challenging Elevations Michael Koch completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 6:05:39, covering 13.36 miles. His average pace was 27:22 min/mile. Notably, the section between "Barr Camp" and "Bottomless Pit" saw a significant slowdown with a split pace of 47:58 min/mile. This is possibly due to altitude, as the elevation increased to 10,819 feet. Despite this challenge, Michael showed improvement from 21:37 min/mile at "No Name Creek" to 19:37 min/mile at "7.8 Summit." Michael held his position relatively steady in the first half of the race. His best split pace was 13:29 min/mile at "Hydro Street." Towards the end, between "1 Mile To Go" and the "Finish," his pace slowed to 44:55 min/mile. Implementing specific high-altitude training may optimize performance in future races, particularly from "Barr Camp" to the "Finish." Michael's endurance and persistence through varying elevations are commendable.
