Consistent Pace with Strategic Finish Matthew Sigua displayed strong and consistent running at the 2026 Surf City 10, maintaining an overall pace of 8:25 min/mile. Starting off with a brisk 7:58 split for the first mile and keeping a steady tempo for the subsequent 4 miles, Matthew was able to push through the pack, improving his placing as the race progressed. He began at the 522nd position overall and moved up to 397th by the third mile. Despite slight deceleration in the latter stages, with his slowest split at 9:49 in mile 8, Matthew managed to regain momentum by the final mile with an 8:31 split. His determination and pacing strategy resulted in a commendable 486th place in gender category and 119th in his age division out of a total of 4391 participants. The ability to maintain close paces early on proved beneficial. Balancing pacing in future races could yield even better results. Great work, Matthew!
