Building Strong Momentum with a Fast Finish Youngeun Kim, from La Habra, CA, participated in the 2026 Surf City 10, completing the 10K event with an overall time of 1:14:16. Notable for strong pacing consistency, Youngeun finished with an average pace of 11:58 min/mile. Impressively, she made significant progress in each mile, moving up in her division after a swift fourth-mile split of 6:16 min/mile. This quick improvement played a pivotal role in advancing her division placement to 88th out of 2818 total participants. Youngeun's ability to recover and accelerate following a challenging third-mile split demonstrates her resilient race strategy. Her solid performance in the fourth mile vaulted her forward to 61st in her division at that point in the race. These strategic elements show potential for even better future performances.
