Strong Finish and Consistent Pace Rowan Hargrove from Fountain Valley participated in the 2026 Surf City 10 5K and maintained a steady pace throughout. With a final elapsed time of 36:46 and an average pace of 11:51 min/mile, Rowan showcased impressive endurance and consistency. Starting with a 11:59 min/mile pace for the first mile, he improved his pace to 11:34 min/mile by the third mile, demonstrating excellent progression in the latter stages of the race. His excellent execution placed him 38th in the M 14 & Under division, a remarkable achievement for an 8-year-old. Out of 2,148 participants, Rowan moved up in the rankings significantly after the first mile, which shows an ability to adjust his pace effectively against a large field. Continuing this focus on pacing will benefit future races. Congratulations to Rowan on a commendable race!
